Love Me, Love Me Not

Feb 06, 2017
Valentine’s Day is one of the more controversial dates on the holiday calendar, evoking blissful anticipation and gut-wrenching dread in equal measure. The artists coming to The Barns at Wolf Trap over the next couple of weeks have music for every mood, from jubilation to heartbreak.
Eric Paslay (February 10): The country crooner knows it’s not your fault if she doesn’t quite trust you. It’s his.
Alyson Cambridge (February 11): Between the caffeine, the nicotine, and the soul-searching, it may not be worth messing with a man who has his disappearing act down.
Cherish the Ladies (February 14 + 15): With Cherish the Ladies, the Valentine’s Day message is built into the name of the band. Here’s a medley of fiddle tunes to warm the coldest heart.
Solas (February 16 + 17): Primroses plucked, scarlet pillow laid down, “I love my love, but love is no more.” If you can’t get enough mist-shrouded Celtic tragedy, this throwback video is for you.
1964 The Tribute (February 18): With its soaring harmonies and skip-a-beat drumbeat, 1964’s take on the Beatles’ exultant “She Loves You” is the perfect antidote to Paslay’s oppositely titled weeper.
