Sweet Confessions: A Valentine’s Day Q&A with Wolf Trap Artists

Feb 01, 2016
In honor of Valentine’s Day, a few of our Barns artists dished about sweet subjects—from chocolatey treats to celebrity crushes. Check out their answers, and be sure to catch Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra (above top left); Alexis Jones (top right) and The Jones Family Singers, and The Quebe Sisters (bottom) when they stop by The Barns at Wolf Trap.
Kevin Griffin: Someone named a star for me once on Valentine’s Day. At the time, it was quite a novel thing. Only NASA offered the service. Now there are online services that do it. Not as unique as it once was, but still pretty cool.
Alexis Jones, lead singer of The Jones Family Singers: My fiancé wrote and performed an original piece of music for me.
The Quebe Sisters: Well, not all of us Sisters have valentines per se, but I think we all agree that quality time always makes for a great Valentine’s Day regardless of what the activity is.
Alexis Jones: “The One He Kept For Me” by Maurette Brown Clark, “I Believe In You And Me” by Whitney Houston, “I Found Love” by BeBe & Cece Winans, and “All Of Me” by John Legend.
The Quebe Sisters: “Stardust” by The Mills Brothers, “Beautiful Dreamer” by Marty Robbins, and “My Heart Skips a Beat” by Buck Owens & His Buckaroos.
Kevin Griffin: “Corcovado” by Tom Jobim, “Let’s Go Out Tonight” by The Blue Nile, “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over” by Jeff Buckley, “My Funny Valentine” by Chet Baker, and “Overgrown” by James Blake.
The Quebe Sisters: Definitely chocolate, don’t let the candy heart phrases fool you 😉
Kevin Griffin: Hershey’s Kisses for sure.
Alexis Jones: Neither, but since I have to choose, I’ll say chocolate.
Kevin Griffin: Music
The Quebe Sisters: Merle Haggard
Alexis Jones: Shoes were my first love and still are.
Kevin Griffin: Rachel Weisz!
The Quebe Sisters: Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, and Faron Young
Alexis Jones: Ice Cube
